How To Doctor Your Own Soup

Share it now.

Step 1: Choose your favorite broth-based soup. If you are unsure if a soup is broth based, check the first ingredient--it should be water.
Step 2: Read the ingredients label. Read through the list and see what you have in your fridge, freezer, or cupboard. Pick a few to add into the soup. Vegetables are the best place to start. Don't be scared to keep adding! All vegetables--kale, carrots, tomatoes, potatoes--are viable candidates, as well as things like whole grain pasta and rice.
Step 3: Open the can of soup and add it to a pot. Begin heating it on the stove. As it heats up, use the empty soup can as a measuring up. Add one can full of water. Add in your other ingredients as well. If you are adding many ingredients, balance it out by adding more water as well.
Step 4: Taste your soup. Add in more spices or ingredients if the flavor is bland. Again, if you're at a loss for what to add, consult the ingredients label.
Step 5: Finish heating and serve your soup. Use the recipe function on Bon'App to see the adjusted values of calories, sugar, salt, bad fat, fiber, and protein in your soup!
