Everyone likes frozen treats in the summer time, but ice cream can be high in sugar and bad fat. Frozen yogurt, or fro-yo for short, is a recently popular alternative among teenagers, who often think it is healthier than ice cream.
Unfortunately, that's not always the case. Frozen yogurt can have just as much sugar and almost as much bad fat as ice cream. Let's compare a few options using Bon'App:
Half-cup serving of Vanilla Ice Cream:
Half-cup serving of Vanilla Frozen Yogurt:
As you can see, although the frozen yogurt is slightly lower in calories and bad fat, it still has just as much sugar as the ice cream.
Many teens are eating ice cream and frozen yogurt without realizing how many calories, and grams of sugar and bad fat they are consuming (especially with frozen yogurt)!
Our goal with our Indiegogo project is to Help Teens Fight Obesity by providing teens with smartphones preloaded with Bon'App. With our help they can keep track of sugar, calories, and bad fat in popular foods and make healthier choices!
Just because it looks healthy doesn't mean it always is!
