What to Choose at Ben & Jerry's?

Share it now.

Ben & Jerry's infamous Vermonster packs a whooping 20 scoops of ice cream, 4 ladles of hot fudge, 10 scoops of walnuts, 3 chocolate chip cookies, 2 scoops of dry toppings, 1 giant fudge brownie, 4 bananas...and the list goes on with a total calories of more than 14,000 calories!

While this behemoth of an ice cream sundae is not something we would recommend at Ben & Jerry's, the ice cream shop does offer some healthier options to indulge your sweet tooth. Here are some tips on how to cut down on the calories.

Get Funky with Froyo Flavors

Some of Ben & Jerry's fan favorite flavors, such as Cherry Garcia, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and Half-Baked are available as frozen yogurt with fewer calories and bad fat.
For example, regular Cherry Garcia has 220 calories and 7 grams of bad fat.
Cherry Garcial Froyo  has 200 calories and 2grams of bad fat.
Get Fruity with Sorbet Flavors

A refreshing scoop of Ben & Jerry's fruity sorbets, like Strawberry Kiwi Swirl and Mango Mango, has just around 100 calories with no fat. However, sorbets tend to be high in sugar at 23 grams per serving, so stick to one scoop at a time.

Get Frosty with No Sugar Added Flavors

For those who want to cut down on their sugar intake, yet still enjoy the sweet taste, opt for the Vanilla Fudge Chip that has no additional sugar. While most ice cream flavors pack around 20 grams of sugar, Vanilla Fudge Chip has only 3 grams of sugar. Vanilla Fudge Chip is available only at Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop.

  1. Whoever invented low fat and low calorie ice cream should go directly to heaven. But seriously, this is a nice way to satisfy people's cravings for ice cream without the accompanying guilt.
