How To Avoid Overeating

Share it now.

We have all experienced it: the feeling of complete satiation. Once you reach the point of not being able to move an inch of your body, you feel horrible for stuffing all that food down your throat and vow to yourself to never overeat again. To help you avoid overeating, or binge eating, Bon'App presents you some helpful tips! After all, overeating is unhealthy both for your body and for your mind.

1. Be mindful of what you are eating.

When you have a plate full of food, remember that it is okay to not finish everything in front of you. Listen to your body signal and be sure to stop eating when you are feeling full. You can also eat your leftovers for later!

2. Chew before you swallow.

It takes about 20 minutes for your stomach to fully digest food, so don't be in hurry when you are eating. After all, no one will take the food away from you. Enjoy and savor the taste and texture of the food and chew before you gobble down!

3. Eat with smaller utensils.

It helps to use smaller utensils--especially spoons and forks--when it comes to eating slower and taking smaller bites. Also, try putting down your utensils after each bite so that you can really enjoy what you are eating and engage in conversation with others.

4. Drink a glass of water before the meal.

Filling your stomach with liquid--for example, drinking a glass of water--will give you a sense of fullness. Sometimes, you may be dehydrated and compensating it with loads of food. Don't mistake thirst for hunger!

5. Keep a food journal.
Tracking what you are eating helps you to understand your food pattern and visualize the amount of consumption. This is where Bon'App can directly help you! Forego the traditional pen and paper--keep a journal using Bon'App!
